Between the night of June 8 and the early hours of June 9, the Bangladesh Army’s Narail and Kalia cantonments conducted a joint operation in Purulia village, Kalia Upazila, Narail. During the raid on the home of Abul Kalam Molla, troops recovered a high-precision sniper rifle concealed beneath a bed.

• Features: Fitted with a telescopic sight and a silencer, indicating potential use for covert targeting.
Suspect Information
• Name & Background: The primary suspect, 26-year-old Sohan Molla, is the son of Abul Kalam Molla and a student at a college in Khulna. According to his mother, Sohan fled the house before the operation began.
• Allegations: Army intelligence reports suggest that Sohan had been using the rifle to threaten local residents.
Seizure & Evidence Handling
• Troops surrounded the property, conducted a thorough search, and located the rifle hidden under the suspect’s mattress.
• The weapon was immediately handed over to Kalia Police Station.

• Forensic Examination: With court approval, the rifle will undergo ballistic and origin testing to determine its manufacturer and intended use.
• Ongoing Investigation: Case filings under the Arms Act and relevant anti-terrorism statutes are in progress. Authorities are also seeking to locate and apprehend Sohan Molla and his father.
